Badlands

The band formed in 1995 with a partnership of Gary Magee and Ian Morris. The band is now a trio that occasionally extends to include a drummer. The musical contents of Badlands, whatever the line up, leans to acoustic interpretations of evergreen songs from the 60's to the 90's.


Badger in the Bag

Badger in the Bag are a five piece band, based in Northumberland and play a wide range of traditional and original music and song on an assorted instruments and voices, plus a variety of other 'Happenings'


Bahama Joe's Lobster House

Local five piece band, who play Rock and Blues covers. Their repertoire includes, among others, songs by Gary Moore, The Rolling Stones and Black Crowes. Their love of the music is obvious in their vibrant and enthusiastic performances.

Battlefield Band

From their beginings in 1972, there have been many personnel changes in the Battlefield Band. Under the banner "Forward with Scotland's Past" they play Scotish music of a unique quality, inspired by the rich heritage of Celtic music and fired by the strength of today's Scotish cultural scene, which indeed they have done much to create and fuel.

Beer for Breakfast

Beer for Breakfast have been playing at pubs, clubs and festivals for the past two years, although the musical pedigree of the individual players goes back much further. They play the best of, traditional and contemporary Irish songs and tunes, country and Celtic rock, generating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere at live performances guaranteed to have you up on your feet dancing and singing or more usually both. The band are: Joanne Taylor - flute, Ken Lestrange - mandolin, Alan Hopkins - tenor banjo, Kevin Whelan - fiddle, Barrie Starkie - vocals & guitar.


Beethoven's Neighbours

Since their birth in September 1994, the band has expanded their gigs throughout the Fylde. Their scope of music has expanded with the addition of keyboards thus allowing a richer and fuller sound to their songs


Beggars Velvet

Beggars Velvet first appeared at bookings in 1987 and became firmly established among the very top ranks of harmony singers in the Folk World. Beggars Velvet are, Dave Webber, Charley Yarwood, Cathy Yarwood and Anni Fentiman, all the members of the group have performed either professionally or semi-pro on the Folk Scene for many years.


Ben and Joe Broughton

Joe began playing the violin at the age of six. He has played everywhere from small clubs to the Leeds Opera House. Not only is Joe a suprisingly good guitarist and jazz pianist but he has also been involved with circus and Street entertainment. Ben has been playing the guitar and bass since he was nine and still receives a wide acclaim for his performances.

Bispham Barnstormers

Bispham Barnstormers have been exciting audiences since the late 70's. Drawing from the talent of the now defunct Blackpool College Theatre Group. They write and perform melodramas with comedy in mind (if not in practice!) and endeavour to bring the audience stories of local historical struggles between good and evil.


Blackeyed Biddy

Popular with audiences throughout Britain, and on the international circuit where they have toured in Canada, Germany, Holland and Denmark. Blackeyed Biddy perform music from Scotland's Celtic heritage. Their performance mixes humour with a serious approach to music, and their relaxed manner and natural enthusiasm carry audiences along with them through stirring reels and jigs to moving ballads and rousing choruses.


Blackpool Brass

Originally formed in 1966 when it was know as The Blackpool Tower Band. In 1973 it became The Dutton Forshaw Motors Band enjoying 12 years sponsorship. Since then it has become one of the Fyldes leading concert and contesting bands.


Bleizi Ruz

Bleizi Ruz, Brittany's foremost folk band are in their twentieth year as ambassadors of their native music. Their name is Briton for "Red Wolves", and they certainly got their teeth into the local music scene right from the start, winning Kay arc Bob (Song of the People) Briton music championship and recording their first album both in 1973.

Bob Fox and Benny Graham

Although Bob Fox and Benny Graham had known each other for years it was the project to record Tommy Armstrongs "The Pitmans Poet" which brought them together for the first time. Both are talented soloist and are well known around the British Folk Club and Festival Scene.


Bob Greenwood's Rhythm Rascals

Bob Greenwood's Rhythm Rascals are a duo who play music from the 1920/1930's from the USA, music you would have heard on the street corners, on scratchy old 78rpm recordings and on stage s in small vaudeville theatres in rural towns. A rich and colourful mix of old-time Blues, Ragtime, Gospel, Hawaiian and period novelty material.


Bob Hall and Hilary Blythe

Bob Hall has been described by Folk Roots as the finest boogie woogie player this side of the Atlantic. Bob plays, writes and sings much of his own material as well as performing traditional blues and boogie standards. Hilary Blythe joins Bob in his show, adding bass guitar and vocal harmonies.


Booker and Padgett

John Booker was born in 1942 - although he won't admit it! He is a true character of the folk scene both as a powerful singer and accomplished dancer (in his day) Ray Padgett was born in 1947 and started singing traditional songs at Derek & Dorothy Elliott's Barnsley Folk Club.


Boreen

Boreen - Helen Akitt and Paul Draper. Helen was a member of Les Laplins who became a familiar sight running sessions and club events at festivals in the late 80's and early 90's. Paul, also a former laplin member has played with various bands over the years including The Dangerous Brothers and All Gong and No Dinner.


Bram Taylor

Vocals, guitar, duet concertina, bones. Bram is entertaining artiste in his own right as well as founder-member, along with Dave and Eric, of Inclognito. His distinctive voice and relaxed stage presence have been appreciated in folk clubs throughout the country.

Brian Osborne

Brian Osborne ex-Taverners member, now a solo artist. Along with the late Pete Rodgers (Big Pete) he helped to run Blackpool Folk Club. Brian's finger-picking guitar style is sensitively used to accompany his rich melodic voice in material ranging from Traditional ballads to slyly humourous songs. Brian's CD. Brian Preston

Brian Preston (formally Brian Dewhurst) was a mainstay of the North West folk scene for many years before turning to a career as a professional entertainer. Brian has played with The Wayfarers, Horden Raikes and Tom Tiddler's Ground, and has enjoyed a successful solo career. His material encompasses the old and the new, with a considerable slice of comic rapartee.

Britannia Coconut Dancers

Every Easter Saturday, the Britannia Coconutters dance their way through the streets of Bacup, starting off at 9.00am, and wearing out a full set of clog irons in the course of the day's dancing, during which they cover about 65 miles. The dances performed by the "Nutters" are supposed to be pirate dances which were brought over to Cornwall by Moorish Pirates!

Burdett, Simpson & Young

Nic Burdett, Vic Simpson & Rob Young have been together as a trio since 1992 and have almost a century of singing experience under collective belt. Their repertoire reflects a common enthusiasm for English tradition songs and an appreciation of the social and historical contexts which inspired them. However, any song with a good tune, chorus or something to say may also be included.
