Fat Medicine

Riding on a concoction of Irish, Cajun, and Celtic rock, Fat Medicine add a vibrant punch to the folk/roots scene. Their sheer enjoyment of music comes through in their highly entertaining performances. From jigs, reels and original material to classics from Pogues and the Waterboys, Fat Medicine produce a wide range of sounds from a diverse array of instruments.


Feet First

Feet First Appalachian clog dance team was formed after an English Clog dancer and an American flatfooter met and took to each other's style! The English Feet First uses steps brought back from America, combined with their own variations and choreographed into exciting and energetic dances, performed with an enthusiasm that really is infectious.


Festival Ceilidh Band

The band was formed locally in Poulton-le-Fylde to provide an evening of entertainment as part of the local festival week. It consists of local musicians most of whom are performers in their own right, and some are members of other Fylde groups. Friends of the Falcon.


Festival Jazz Band

On the Fylde Coast there is a thriving traditional jazz scene, with many local bands having a great following. None more so than the Festival Jazz Band who have a reputation for making good music and being extremely entertaining.

Fidlers Fancy Women's Morris

Although the exact year is not documented precisely, it is known that somewhere between 1885 and 1890 Charles Burgess Fidler, a fishmonger by trade, revived the tradition of morris dancing in Stockport. Following the growth of interest in morris dancing during the 70s Ollie Hosier and Stan Gee met with Mary Brown - Charles Fidler's grand-daughter the result was Fidler's Fancy Women's Morris.


Fika

Formed in 1997 after an exchange of mutual musical appreciation, the concert band Fika combines the talents of four fine musicians. Based in the North West of England, the band concentrate on the rich and varied music of Sweden, which has long been a favourite of theirs. The combination of harmonising soprano saxophones, the rural sound of the traditional willow flute and intensive fiddle playing, make their interpretations lively and individual. This is complemented by the rhythmic guitar and percussion.


Fiona Simpson

Fiona Simpson has an impressive track record, for several years she was half of Therapy, a popular much-travelled duo. With Dave Shannon she made five albums, toured with Max Boyce and appeared on TV shows. A lady not to be missed if you enjoy fine quality singing.


Firm Friends

As individuals, Alan Cox, Ann Clancy, Theresa Tooley and Hazel Bolton have supported many folk festivals over the years, by working as stewards. In their free time at Holmforth in 1988, a festival-goer heard them sing in an impromptu session and suggested that they should get together as a vocal group and so "Firm Friends" they became.

Fit'n-Elfie

Fit'n-Elfie are Roy Tuner and Christine Fitton. They combine vocal harmonies with guitar and keyboard, specialising in love songs and disasters! Many of their songs are self-penned. Roy & Christine have a long association with Scouting in Blackpool and support a wide range of charities including the R.N.L.I.

Fleetwood Cod End Mummers

Fleetwood's own Cod End Mummers have appeared throughout England. They were also responsible for reviving the Kirby Lonsdale Pace Egging Play to its original setting each Easter Monday. The teams name aroused some curiosity - the Cod End is the enclosed part of a trawl net, used in Fleetwoods major industry.


Fleetwood Mashers

The Fleetwood Mashers are Ian Gartside and Dave Galbraith. They play guitars and sing (mostly) Lancashire material, occasionally assisted by John Bond. With song and poems The Fleetwood Mashers never fail to entertain. Friends of the Falcon.

Flipjack Jugglers

No need to run away to the circus these days, 'Flipjacks' are here! They have organised circus workshops at most of the major festivals in Britain teaching the art of, diablo, plate spinning, juggling and on occasions uni-cycling.


Florida

The Florida sound is unique, its a brassy collision of traditional English dance and good time jazz, underpinned by a muscular dance rhythm. It generates hair-raising harmonic arrangements out of a melting-pot of roots and rock influences.

Folklore

Are a Blackpool based, semi-professional four piece band performing Irish and commercial sing-along folk songs. The band have been together since 1991 but have only performed under the name Folklore since 1995.


Forebitter

Andy Kenna and Bernie Davis perform sea songs and shanties in an authentic Liverpool singing style, accompanying themselves on concertina, fiddle, melodeon, bodhran, guitar and musical saw. Their lively and entertaining presentation recaptures the flavour and rough humour of the great days of sail and includes their celebrated sailor jig-dolls and miniature step dancer.

Fred Jordan

Fred is one of the great characters of the folk music world, he was a farm worker from near Craven Arms in Shropshire. Despite his advancing years, he is a singer of great note and a witty and charming entertainer.


Fred Kent

Though not a local man by birth, Fred Kent has been a 'Sand Grown Un' by adoption for many years now. He has been interested in traditional song and dance since the second world war. As a teacher he has long been running dances at schools.


Full House

Full House is Nick Mitchell (vocals guitar & mandola), Chris Lee (mandolin, Bass & Vocals) and Dave Russell (Fiddle, Mandola, Bass & Vocals). Although it had existed sporadically for several years it was only in the early 90's when it became a regular gigging band. Having started out performing mostly in the North West, a varied mixture of original, contemporary and traditional material, they are now known across the country.


Fylde Coast Cloggers

The team was founded in December 1988 by Shiela Mugan. They dance North-West and Garland dances in their own enthusiastic style - including a dance from Lytham St.Annes, their home base.
