La Musgana

La Musgana play folk music from the western half of Castilla (the largest region in interior Spain). In this region there still remains a very primitive form of music, based on autotonous scales and rhythms, mainly because of centuries of isolation. Although most of the traditional musicians in the region are very old, many of the tunes they know have been learnt by the younger musicians of today.
