R Cajun and The Zydeco Brothers

Formed in the early 80's R Cajun and the Zydeco Brothers are one of Britain's most widely known Cajun bands. They have played at clubs, pubs, colleges theatres and festivals throughout the Country and abroad, made numerous radio broadcast and through their records introduced their music to enthusiasts the World around.


Ram's Bottom

Ram's Bottom are a group not the town in Lancashire! Ram's Bottom are: Alan Squires, Trevor Hopkins, Ron Crosser, Rick Scollins, Keith Kendrick, Mark Henson. They are from Derby and as well as being a Ceilidh Band, they perform a semi-musical language and dialect extravaganza of local material entitled "Ey Up Mi Duck".


Ran Tan Band

Ran Tan Band play high-energy dance music from home and abroad at festivals and dance events nation wide. Together with their caller Gordon Potts, who has been described as "truly awesome", Ran Tan Band will provide an evening of probably the most exciting and original dance music in Britain today.


Raphael Callaghan and Cristine Purnell

In the history of British blues, Raphael Callaghan's name first appears a long time back. It was in 1969 that Raphael, from Liverpool, first recorded as harmonica player for singer Jim James. Session work followed, and working in jazz-rock and rock blues bands enabled him to develop his song writing skills. In 1990 he emerged as a respected singer/slide guitarist. Here in a duo with Christine Purnell on bass, their debut album "Blue C" features nine compositions by Raphael.


Rebecca Green

Rebecca Green has been performing at Fylde for a number of years now. Daughter of local folk club organisers Eddie & Ann Green. A sensitive singer and talented guitarist


Red Duster

Red Duster are Ross Campbell and Ron Baxter. They Present thematic shows which are both entertaining and informative. Their material is drawn from the local history and folklore of Fleetwood and the Fylde.

Rhiannon

Rhiannon, and electro/acoustic five piece band, based in Sheffield, handle their predominantly Celtic repertoire with enthusiasm and imagination. Group members are: Linda Hurcombe, Myke Barritt, Michael Thorpe, Stella Davies and Craig Booker.

Richard Grainger

Richard Grainger earned his reputation as one of the English Folk Scene's most accomplished performers. His songs reflect the typical passion you would expect from the North East (where he grew up), the humour and all the raw beauty of Teeside and its surrounding area.


Richard Woods

Richard Woods comes from the Wirral plays guitar and sings traditional, through contemporary songs and tunes. He has played on the Merseyside folk scene for many years, both solo and in numerous bands. Richard won the Young Performers Competition at Fylde in 1988, which encouraged him to start performing as a solo artist.


Roaring Jelly

Roaring Jelly are four musicians excellent comedians and very fine performers. In the old days of music halls, they would have been a huge success. A most entertaining and popular group.


Rob Wilson

Local man Rob Wilson has made quite a name for himself as a singer/guitarist. A former member of the infamous 'Hexmen' blues band, he traded his electric guitar for a acoustic and turned his back on blues. Now several years down the line he now performs a lively set of classic songs from writers such as, Ewan McColl and is equally at home with more contemporary music from people like Pete Blegvard and even Sting!

Robb Johnson and Pip Collings

Robb and Pip started working together in 1989 when Robb was recording his second album" Small Town World". Since then they have continued Robb's tendancy to play anywhere and everywhere, before as wide a variety of audiences as possible. In 1992 Robb & Pip released a CD "Overnight" which received unanimous acclaim and was named by several critics as one of the top Folk Albums of the year.


Robert Harbon

Robert Harbon first came to public attention in 1992, when he reached the finals of the BBC Radio Two Young Tradition Awards. In ensuing years, he has built up a reputation as the best concertina player of his generation. This and his singing and guitar playing has taken him all around the U.K.


Robin Fox

Robin Fox started singing shape-note music about 1977 and has been at it ever since, occasionally in the great Southern ' conventions', and steadily at the regular local singings. Over the years he has led a number of workshops in both his home in Minnesota and in the U.K.

Rosie Hardman & Jon Gillaspie

Manchester born singer-songwriter, Rosie Hardman joined forces with JonGillaspie (who she described as 'an Englishman born in America by mistake) as a result of their recording the album 'Eagle Over Blue Mountain' in 1978. Despite very different backgrounds, it was Jon's total empathy with Rosie's idea of how her music should sound that bonded the duo together. This continued through two more albums with Plant Life. Jon went on to great success in the field of classical music research whilst Rosie now mainly works on the computer but they are still great friends today. You can find all Rosie's news at:-

Ross Campbell and Richard Hone

Ross Campbell and Richard Hone have been playing together since the late 80's. However their association goes back to the early days of Fleetwood Folk Club's stage productions. Their interests in arranging new and traditional music for theatre continued with their association with the local Onward Community Theatre.


Rough Mix

Rough Mix are a Fylde based duo known for their melodic style of music and vocal hormonies. They have been supporters of the local folk club scene for many years. Their repertoire includes traditional material, chorus songs, contemporary songs, self-penned compositions, ballads, jigs reels and cajun tunes.


Roy Bailey

Born 20th October 1935, London, England, Roy has established a sold reputation during his years on the folk curcuit. His powerful voice and sensitive guitar playing bring out an honesty and warm humanity which affects an audience deeply, whether he is playing to a small club, a group of children, or a large concert audience.

Roy Paisey

Roy Paisey has been living in Fleetwood since 1989 and has been playing highland pipes since 1975. He hails originally from Manchester where he spent 12 years as a member of the Scots Guards Association Pipes and Drums, who made their first appearance at Fleetwood in 1992 at the Tram Sunday event.

Rusty and Stu Wright

Also members of Tallyman and The Festival Ceilidh Band, Rusty and Stu have been introducing people to the joys (and frustrations!) of guitar-playing for many years, both formally in evening classes or informally at workshops at Festivals. Whatever the situation, their friendly relaxed manner quickly puts the novice at ease, while those who already play are encouraged to try new techniques and styles. Friends of the Falcon.
